Tests for LiFePO4 Battery
As an intrinsically safest battery type, LiFePO4 battery usually needs to be tested according to different requirement and standards.
1 Test Conditions
1.1 Standard Test Conditions: all the tests shall be done under temperature 25℃±2℃, humidity (65±20)%RH, ATM pressure 101.325kPa
1.2 Standard Charge Under 1.1 specified conditions, charge in 0.5C5mA to 3.65V, then continue to charge at constant voltage 3.65V until the charge current is less than 0.03C5mA. 1.3 Quick Charge Under 1.1 specified conditions, charge at 1C5mA to 3.65V, then charge with constant voltage 3.65V until the current is less than 0.02C5mA.
2 Electrical Performance
2.1 Discharge Performance in 0.5C Rate Charge cells according to 1.2 or 1.3 specified method, store for 0.5~1hr under 1.1, then discharge in 0.5C5mA to cut-off voltage. Discharging time should not be less than 117mins
2.2 Discharge Performance in 1C Charge the battery according to 1.2 or 1.3 specified method, store for 0.5~1hr under 1.1, then discharge in 1C5mA to cut-off voltage.
Discharging time should not be less than 57 mins.
2.3 High Temperature Performance Charge cells according to 1.2 or 1.3 specified method, put cells into high temperature oven with 55℃±2℃ constantly for 2hrs, then discharge in 1C5mA to cut-off voltage. Take cells out and store for 2hrs under 1.1, visually inspect the appearance. 1). Discharging time should not be less than 54mins 2). no deformations or cracks
2.4 Low Temperature Performance Charge cells according to 1.2 or 1.3 specified method, put cells into high temperature oven with -20℃±2℃ constantly for 2hrs, then discharge in 0.5C5mA to cut-off voltage. Take cells out and store for 2hrs under 1.1, visually inspect the appearance.
1) Discharging time should not be less than 45mins
2) no deformations or cracks
2.5 Retention of Charge After charging the battery according to 1.2 or 1.3 specified, store for 28 days under 1.1 condition, then discharge in 0.2C5mA to cut-off voltage.
Capacity retention rate≥95%
2.6 Cycle Life Charge the battery with 1.3 specified charging method, store for 0.5~1hr, then discharge in 1C5mA to cut-off voltage. After that, store for 0.5~1hr, then do the next charge-discharge cycle and continuously for that till 3000 times.
Capacity retention rate≥80%
